International Seminar World Class Professor Program

The seminar is funded by the Ministry of Research and Innovation and organized by Dr. Yun Arifatul Fatimah, head of Center for Intelligent and Sustainable Circular Economy at Faculty of Engineering UNIMMA, marked an international collaboration between UNIMMA and the University of Southern Denmark. Its primary objective is to bolster international cooperation and enhance the competencies of lecturers and students in the realms of science, technology, research, and innovation, gearing up for the 5.0 industrial revolution, as stated by Nuryanto, M.Kom, Dean Faculty of Engineering.

Attended by a diverse group comprising academics, researchers, and students, the seminar fostered an inspiring and collaborative atmosphere. Dr. Lilik Andriayani, M.Si, Rector of Muhammadiyah Magelang University (UNIMMA), set the tone with a brilliant opening speech, underscoring the need to explore and formulate concrete steps to support the New Society 5.0 era.

The event featured a series of hybrid discussions and presentations, accommodating both physical and virtual participation. A standout moment was the presentation by Prof. Dr. Jazi Eko Istiyanto, a leading expert from Gadjah Mada University (UGM), who shared insightful ideas on “How would Higher Education Cope with Artificial Intelligence?” His presentation delved into the profound ways AI will impact and transform higher education. Other speakers including Prof Zainal Arifin Hasibuan, Kannan Govindan and Dr. Nugroho Adi Sasongko have also created scientific atmosphere through interactive hybrid seminars.

Participants were actively engaged through Q&A sessions and panel discussions, providing a platform for a deepened understanding of the ideas presented and fostering an exchange of inspiring thoughts.

Dr. Lilik Andriayani, M.Si, Rector of UNIMMA, remarked that “World Class Professor 2023” marks the initial step towards closer collaboration in promoting research and innovation for a better future society. The seminar served as a catalyst for collaboration between educational institutions, research, and society, paving the way for innovative and sustainable futures. Moreover, it opened up opportunities for further collaboration and in-depth research across various disciplines, with the potential to create a positive impact on society.

In the seminar four speakers were presented including Prof. Dr. Ir. Jazi Eko Istiyanto (Gadjah Mada University), Prof. Zainal A. Hasibuan, Ph.D (Dian Nuswantoro University), Assoc. Prof. Nugroho Adi Sasongko, Ph.D (National Innovation Research Agency) and Prof. Kannan Govindan, Ph.D (University of Adelaide, Australia).
